Leaves Turning and Dancers Learning!

Happy Friday TDD Dance Family,

Can you believe its officially autumn in 3 DAYS! Bring on the Pumpkin Spice and sweater weather! This month has been focused on technique and in the coming weeks we will begin learning our Winter Showcase Choreography and we will be sending out Winter Showcase Commitment Forms and information. If you know you are interested in participating, please block off December 10th on your calendars today!

This is a friendly reminder to please adhere to our classroom policies in particular in regards our Anytime Fitness dancers – THANK YOU

Parents/Guardians please wait outside the room – For the comfort of all of the dancers 5+, parents/guardians are asked to wait in lobby area by the couches until class is over. We understand that parents love to be engaged however, it can become a distraction to the class and a parent’s presence might intimidate other students. We welcome everyone back for the last 5 minutes of class. Exceptions include trial classes or dancers having trouble leaving a parent. If your dancer is under the age of 5 it is still highly encouraged, unless taking a partner class, that you do not remain inside the room. If your dancer is under the age of 5 and a guardian must remain, we ask that only ONE guardian remain in the room throughout class. AS OUR CLASSES GROW IT IMPORTANT THAT ONLY ONE GUARDIAN REMAIN TO KEEP CLASS RUNNING SMOOTHLY AND ORGANIZED. GUARDIANS REMAINING THE ROOM ARE ALLOWED TO SIT ON THE BENCHES OR CHAIRS PROVIDED PLEASE DO NOT USE OR ENGAGE WITH ANY EQUIPMENT.

Let’s talk class attire!

Mostly importantly, it is for your dancer’s safety. If dancers’ hair is flying around, they have a greater chance of falling, or running into a classmate. We please ask that hair is pulled back.

Baggy pants are trending again and can be a fun stylistic option. We just ask that pants be the right length so tripping or slipping is avoided.

We have created a dress code so that we can best judge a dancer’s alignment. When you are not dancing in the proper alignment, you can create lasting muscle memory and patterns, that can lead to lifelong injuries or overuse.

We also highly recommend that dancers in hip hop classes wear hip hop sneakers. If you have questions about these, please ask! We have compiled a list of options and would be happy to discuss this futher. (Boys Hip Hop: Please see Miss Miranda for further details!)

We suggest this as shoes specifically designed for street dancing, these shoes typically offer a turning pad, and more support with a balanced traction, once again this a for safety reasons.

We have put together examples that you can purchase here. We are always happy to send over recommendations and such. As always, at TDD we understand that budgets are tight, and this is not always a feasible option for families. Please reach out as we will help in anyway we can.
